Tips for Planning a Round-The-World Trip

Know Your Direction

One of the first decisions you must make before embarking on a round-the-world trip is the direction you will go. Which is to say, whether you wish to travel to the East or the West.

Every time you pass a time zone when travelling west, you add an extra hour or two to your day. Your body prefers cycles that are somewhat longer than 24 hours, rather than those that are shorter. This is excellent, and your body will not object by forcing you to experience jet lag.

If you travel from west to east, on the other hand, you're more likely to experience severe jet lag because you'll be losing time when travelling through numerous time zones while your body is used to a typical 24 hour per day zone.
